We’re Sydney and Claire. We are 23 years old, ambitious, and trying not to take life too seriously.
In consulting, people are fond of slapping PRELIMINARY or WORK IN PROGRESS or DRAFT on slides. I do it all the time. Take a look, it means, but not too closely. Here's what we've found so far. This is what we're working with. And don't roast me if it's not 100% correct.
In all truth, we wanted this website - blog, journey, soapbox, whatever - to be a reflection of our thoughts as 20-somethings navigating that nebulous grey matter of work/life at high velocities. (And okay, maybe we wanted some free shit.) But for proper reflection, especially for the kind of reflection that deserves to be shared, you need to be able to step back, zoom out from the minutiae of the day-to-day, and have an uninterrupted moment of clarity.
6+ months after conceiving this idea, buying the domain, making the logo... and effectively not producing shit, we've realized that that luxury of time is wishful thinking. So we're changing tactics. Just gonna fucking go for it, because otherwise this will become just another unborn dream. Real novel concept, guys, you might say. But it is to us. Something imperfect, maybe half-baked - we hesitate to show and get feedback on, lest we get evaluated as less than our best selves. But at the very least we can promise that we are 23 year old, and we are trying our absolute best.
So dear readers: please consider these thoughts a work in progress. These are our preliminary findings.
What would you do if you weren’t afraid of failure?
Would you go back to school? Would you tell that person how you feel about them? Would you finally pick up that guitar you’ve been meaning to learn how to play? Would you book a one-way ticket to a country you’ve always wanted to visit? Would you power up your personal computer and dust off that resume?
